A Walk with Grief

Meeting Grief with Faith and Grace

Taking a walk with grief is one of life’s most difficult and humbling experiences. Grief forces us to accept the reality of our loss and find a way to move forward with our lives. It requires no small measure of courage, hope, and grace, especially when it signals the end of our life as we know it.

Kenosis owner Christine Turo-Shields recently had the honor of interviewing Sister Connie Kramer, who has long been a close friend and personal and professional guide. Sr. Kramer is a Catholic nun who has ministered within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis for most of her religious life, holding such diverse positions as high school teacher, business and development officer, parish religious education director, pastoral associate, parish life coordinator, pastoral counselor, group facilitator, group consultant, and retreat/spiritual director.

After many years specializing in grief, Sr. Kramer is now walking the same path as many others before her, having been recently diagnosed with an invasive and inoperable brain tumor. In her interview with Christine, she shares her wisdom on life, love, loss, and faith in the shadow of her own mortality.
