"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." - Pericles
Jackson Kisor, LMFTA
Psychotherapist, EMDR Trained
Clients are often struck by the depth of Jackson’s curiosity and his gift for listening. Jackson dual-majored in Business Mathematics and Psychology at the University of Utah before pursuing a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. He brings all of those perspectives into the therapy room. He balances his desire to understand you as a unique individual with his thoughtful and practical analysis.
While humor plays a major role in his therapeutic approach, Jackson emphasizes honesty above all else. Life is not always easy or happy. Sometimes we walk in darkness. In order to figure out where we are going, we need to be clear about where we are. Jackson believes it is his responsibility to have faith in you — to encourage you on your walk no matter what it may look like. His approach focuses on giving you the experience you need to make the complexities of life simpler and reconcile with the world as it truly is. The goal is to cultivate both the wisdom to accept things for what they are and the courage to make meaningful change.
Jackson specializes in working with couples, families, men’s issues, past trauma, teenage development, gifted/talented individuals, high-functioning autism, existential grief, and crises of faith. He incorporates elements from different fields of therapy including evidence-based CBT, EMDR methods, Strategic techniques, Gottman psychoeducation, and Acceptance & Commitment exercises. For clients of deep faith, meditation and psychodynamic or symbolic ideas may also become meaningful parts of the therapeutic journey.
Outside of therapy, Jackson is an amateur dessert chef and a member of his local MENSA chapter. He enjoys teaching, hiking, exercising, reading classical literature, playing classic video games, volunteering for his church, and spending lots of time with his wife and children.
