"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9b (New International Version / NIV):

Joshua McCoon, LMHCA
Psychotherapist

Joshua has long had a passion and love for psychology since high school, with a desire to guide others to overcome personal challenges by setting personal goals and boundaries. He has been with Kenosis since his undergrad days, and after gaining more valuable clinical experience, he formally joined the practice as an associate following his graduate study.

Joshua is a Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate (LMHCA) with a background from throughout the Midwest, having spent time living in Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Indiana. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Indiana State University, and after obtaining his Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University, Joshua joined the Kenosis team as an associate.

Joshua has experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities. He has primarily focused on adults in the areas of anxiety and depression, grief and anger management, process addictions such as gambling and pornography use, as well as with topics of men’s issues and spirituality.

Joshua’s primary counseling style is a Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral approach. He recognizes the need to build connection with clients as he integrates key concepts of motivational interviewing and attachment to develop a strong therapeutic alliance. As he continues to add to his clinical profile, he plans to pursue additional training in the future, such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), to further serve his clients’ needs.
